A new KATU/SUSA poll has Oregon Senate candidate Jeff Merkley ahead of Republican Gordon Smith 46-41. The last SUSA poll taken from September had Merkley up 44-42, which was within the MOE. Progressive Democrat Jeff Merkley clearly has the momentum going into the final weeks of the campaign. This does NOT mean we can let up on this race, not even for a second. It's more important than ever that we rally behind Jeff and make sure that we have a progressive voice representing all of us in the Senate.

It's always flummoxed me that the National Review is considered, for some reason, a "respectable" media outlet. From their history of virulent racism, to their strangely illiterate current crop of editors, I really see no reason that these people are taken any more seriously than your average wingnut blogger.

However, The Corner has been a source of much fun for me in the last few days. It's like a reality show, where the object of the game is deny reality for as long as possible. Every few days, now, someone lets a little bit of objective reality in, and gets voted off. I'm biting my nails, wondering who will be next; who will be the next person whom the Cornerites decide they never really liked in the first place?

...at the direction of unrepentant terrorist Bill Acorn, Buddhist Democratic candidate Barack O'Leary, who is not eligible to run for President on account of the fact that his birth certificate says he was born in Europe, instructed a voter registration group known as Filbert to conspire with the Iraqi government to give risky loans to black people, which has caused the nihilistic practice of the U.S. government bailing out Walmart, which is especially bad when you consider the fact that Tony Rezko, who is currently in prison for letting gay men and women get married in Kenya, is trying to force them to unionize, a practice that maverick Sarah Palin said "No, thank you" to as mayor of Alabama when she wasn't steadfastly monitoring whether or not Vladimir Preston was or was not rearing his head out from Mexico, which we need to build a wall around, because the mostest importantest thing to the U.S. Americans is who is going to pick our orange juice for $50 an hour, which we can't do on account of the fact that Raila Odinga wants to tax not just the RICH, but the Sexual Education Class for kindergartners, which is why YOU MUST VOTE for What's-His-Name, who ABSOULTELY AND COMPLETELY has a plan to catch Harry Pelosi, and whom Republicans only nominated because the rest of their candidates were total ball-sacks.

Josh Marshall on Friday spread the falsehood that a woman (Gayle Quinnel) who spoke to John McCain that afternoon had called Barack Obama an "Arab terrorist."

The video, however, shows the woman called Obama an "Arab", which is admittedly false, but not "Arab terrorist".

Yesterday, I finally had a chance to walk in my own community and talk about the election here in California. Yes, believe it or not, we have competitive races here! One of them happens to be in the 46th Congressional District, where the always wonderful Debbie Cook is running. That's why I was more than happy to go down a few streets from my house to walk the neighborbood and help Debbie win!

Let me tell you how that went.

Rasmussen has released its latest poll wave, and the results are great for Obama:

In Ohio, he takes the lead for the first time in a Rasmussen poll, 49% to 47%.

Of corruption that is, not stupidity.  I still think that just sending people out to register voters on a quasi-commission basis was a dumb move, and my biggest fear isn't that Obama or other Democrats will be tainted with voter fraud charges.  My concern is that this will provide Republicans with more excuse to purge voter rolls and cage anybody registered by ACORN.

Obviously there's no way these false voter registrations can impact the election unless people actually show up to vote under these names.  It doesn't seem likely.  In fact, using celebrity names would be a stupid way to go about it.  This is obviously a problem of ACORN being taken by economically desperate individuals who either should not have been hired at all, or otherwise supervised much more closely.
